DAY ONE
- Depart for Anchorage.
- Anchorage Trolley Tour – Take a cable car through the city to see local wildlife and learn the history/culture of the city.
- Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center – The largest museum in Alaska that houses an extensive history, culture, and science of Alaska.
- Explore Anchorage, sightseeing, and gift shopping.
- Return to the hotel and End of Day Reflection.
DAY TWO
- Make your way to Portage, Alaska!
- Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center- A sanctuary dedicated to preserving Alaskan wildlife! With spacious enclosures and medical care, AWCC has been able to provide care for displaced animals for years!
- Portage Glacier – This glacier used to be bigger, but unfortunately, it is feeling the effects of climate change each year.
- History – Portage is a ghost town after the 1964 Earthquake that destroyed the town when the ground sank 6 feet, putting it below the tide level. This is an opportunity to see the adverse effects of nature taking over. Grab your camera!
- Return to the Hotel and End of Day Reflection.
DAY THREE
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Depart for Denali National Park
- Explore National Park
Hike – Short (2 miles) self-guided hiking trails near the entrance.
Wildlife watch – Over 160 bird species, Moose, Grizzley bear and more live in Denali! Try to photograph
some!
Savage River – This river is so clear you can see the bottom! Cold and
refreshing break. - Lunch by the River
- Visitors Center/Volunteer Opportunity
- Ranger Led Sled Demonstration – late afternoon demonstration with the hard-
working sled dogs of Denali! - Depart for dinner and hotel.
- End of the Day Reflection
DAY FOUR
More Denali Exploration!
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Depart for Denali National Park Ranger Led Hike- Guided by a Denali Park Ranger, we will explore and learn about the habitat in Denali National Park. This nature walk is a great start for the day.
- Lunch by the river
- Denali Zipline Adventure – Zip through the trees as you get an exhilarating view of the park from the height of the trees.
- Explore on your own – photography and videography. Learn the history of this national park and understand the environmental impacts that harm the area.
- End of Day Reflection.
DAY FIVE
Denali National Park
- Depart for Denali Outdoor Center
- White Water Rafting – This is an exciting and intense activity! We will be whisked away down the river as we enjoy the scenery of the park.
- Lunch by the River
- Exploring more of the park:
Hike – Short (2 miles) self-guided hiking trails near the entrance.
Wildlife watching – Over 160 bird species frequent in Denali! Try to photograph some!
Savage River – This river is so clear you can see the bottom! Cold and refreshing break.
- Dinner – Denali Park Salmon Bake
End of the Day Reflection.
DAY SIX
Today we will Explore Valdez!
- Breakfast at the Hotel.
- Depart for Valdez:
o Photos and stops along the way. - Solomon Gulch Hatchery – Fun little place to watch the sea lions and the waterfall. Great spot to get some pictures of wildlife as well.
- The Valdez Museum and Archive – History of the city of Valdez. The museum presents the heritage and culture of the land and people.
- Lunch – Nat Shack
- Columbia Glacier – The largest tidewater glacier in Alaska.
- Explore on your own – sightseeing, shopping, photography, and videography.
- Depart dinner and Hotel.
End of Day Reflection.
DAY SEVEN
Let’s get back on the water today!
- Duck Flats Kayak Tour – The Duck Flats is a large salt marsh. These salt flats house several marines and mammal life. There are also several microorganisms in the water that breakdown bacteria and recycle rich nutrients.
- Exploring old Valdez: The original Valdez was relocated from the 1964 Earthquake. Explore what the town used to look like and look how far it has come after more than 50 years since the earthquake.
DAY EIGHT
A Day in Valdez Part 3!
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Depart for Valdez:
- Photos and stops along the way.
- Worthington Glacier –
o Hiking: Very accessible from the highway. You can even see the glacier
from the road.
- Lunch – The Stamphill
- Dock Point Trail – View of the Harbor Cove and the Duck Flats. One of the easiest trails to hike in the area.
- Explore on your own – sightseeing, shopping, photography, and videography.
- Depart for dinner, hotel and end of day reflection.
DAY NINE
Service Opportunity Day!
- Food Bank of Alaska – Every year over 100,000 Alaskans go hungry. Many find that they don’t have groceries to cover their basic needs.
- Tony Knowles Coastal Trail – Bike or walk on this trail that is right on the coastal
line. Get your camera ready for any possible wildlife spotting. - Alaskan Native Heritage Center – Through first-hand stories and dances, you can learn about the 11 major native tribes in the Alaskan area.
- Dinner and depart for the hotel.
DAY TEN
Last Day!
- Anchorage Sightseeing.
- Sea Plane Ride (optional) – Experience Alaska from the sky and admire the wonders of nature!
Evening Flight Departure.
