Big Island & Oahu Science Adventure
Day 1 – Arrive at Honolulu International Airport, where you will receive a Hawaiian lei greeting and meet your Immeasurable Journeys tour director. Drive to Honolulu for your program orientation and check into your hotel. Spend time this afternoon soaking up the sun and surf while relaxing at Waikiki beach before dinner.
Day 2 – Journey to the famous North Shore through the island’s interior, where you can catch a glimpse of big wave surfing at Pipeline Beach. Spend the morning snorkeling and/or SCUBA diving (optional 2 tank dive) at Sharks Cove. During the afternoon, we will explore the surf town of Haleiwa and the Waimea valley waterfall hike. We will finish the evening with a traditional luau dinner and Hawaiian hula performance. *Snorkel and SCUBA diving location may change depending on local swells and current conditions.
Day 3 – Start by hiking Diamond Head Crater and see amazing views over Honolulu and the Pacific. Afterward, explore the coastline toward Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve and hike up to Makapu’u lighthouse for amazing seaside cliff views. Spend the afternoon giving back to the community as we lend a hand in a local service project (TBD). We will finish the evening enjoying dinner in Honolulu and catch a stunning firework show over the ocean.
Big Island Itinerary
Day 4 – Board a 45-minute flight to the Big Island! Arrive at Kona and check into our hotel before grabbing lunch and exploring Kona. Get ready for an unforgettable sunset and nighttime snorkel or SCUBA (optional) with manta rays!
Day 5 – Drive to the east side of the island and explore Akaka Falls State Park. During this days’ journey, enjoy walking through tropical vegetation and scenic vista points and capturing a stunning view of the 442′ Akaka Falls. The next stop is an educational planetarium presentation with a uniquely Hawaiian perspective at Imiloa Astronomy Center.
Day 6 – Explore the one and only Volcanoes State Park and visit Punalu’u Black Sand Beach. Learn how the Hawaiian Islands were formed and about their unique habitat and biodiversity. Before heading back to Kona, we will stop at Manua Kea Information Station at 9200 feet elevation!
Day 7 – Final beach time before your departure home.
