Trip Duration: 9 Days, June 15-23rd   Journey Cost:  $4,300 (30 min travelers)

Deposit of $500 due at application by Nov 21st. Cost includes round trip flights, accommodation, transportation at destination, breakfast, three evening meals, all agreed activities, full-time tour director, and post departure travel insurance provided by Travelex Insurance (insurance not included for travelers over age 69) (optional upgrade to pre-departure insurance available at time of application).

Experience Italy’s incredible blend of art, history, and culture on this 9-day journey through Florence, Rome, and the island of Capri. Students will walk in the footsteps of Renaissance artists and ancient emperors while exploring some of the world’s most iconic landmarks.

In Florence, discover masterpieces at the Accademia Gallery, stroll across the Ponte Vecchio, and take in the city’s timeless beauty from Piazza della Signoria. Then travel to Rome, where the past comes alive in the Colosseum and Roman Forum, and awe-inspiring art fills the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. Enjoy free time in the Eternal City to explore charming piazzas, fountains, and authentic Italian cuisine. The adventure continues with a day trip to Capri, where breathtaking coastal views and Mediterranean charm create the perfect finale to an unforgettable Italian experience.

Italy Discovery Tour – Florence · Rome · Sorrento · Capri

June 15–23, 2025

June 15 – Departure Day

  • Depart Chicago O’Hare (ORD) at 5:10 PM on an overnight international flight to Rome, Italy.

  • Dinner and breakfast served onboard.

June 16 – Arrival in Italy / Florence

  • Morning: Arrive at Rome Fiumicino Airport.

  • Private bus transfer from Rome Airport to hotel in Florence.

  • Check in and relax after the journey.

  • 7:30 PM: Dinner at the hotel.

June 17 – Florence & Pisa

  • 9:00 AM: Guided walking tour of Florence, including admission to the Accademia Gallery (see Michelangelo’s David).

  • 12:00 PM: Free time for lunch.

  • 2:00 PM: Depart by private bus to Pisa.

  • 3:30 PM: Guided walking tour of Pisa, including the Leaning Tower and Piazza dei Miracoli.

  • 5:00 PM: Return to Florence.

  • Evening at leisure and overnight stay.

June 18 – Florence to Rome via San Gimignano

  • 8:00 AM: Depart Florence by private bus.

  • 9:30 AM: Arrive in San Gimignano, a beautifully preserved medieval hill town.

  • 9:45 AM: Guided walking tour and free time to explore local shops and gelaterias.

  • 1:30 PM: Depart for Rome.

  • 5:30 PM: Arrive in Rome and check in to hotel.

  • 7:30 PM: Group dinner.

June 19 – Ancient Rome

  • Morning: “Piazzas and Fountains of Rome” walking tour, featuring Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, and Trevi Fountain.

  • 1:00 PM: Guided tour of the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, ending in

  • 3:00 PM: Guided tour of St. Peter’s Basillica.

June 20 – The Vatican

  • Morning: Guided visit to the Colosseum and Roman Forum, exploring the heart of the ancient empire.

  • Afternoon: Free time for exploration or shopping in Rome.

June 21 – Rome Free Day

  • Day at leisure in Rome to explore additional sites, shop, or relax.

June 22 – Capri 

  • 8:00 AM: Depart hotel by private bus for Sorrento Port.

  • 8:30 AM: Ferry (aliscafo) to Capri.

  • 9:00 AM: Arrive in Capri for a guided island tour, visiting highlights such as the Piazzetta and Augustus Gardens.

  • Free time to explore or enjoy the island’s scenery.

  • 3:30 PM: Return ferry to Sorrento.

  • 4:30 PM: Arrive at hotel and relax for the evening.

June 23 – Departure Day

  • Private transfer to Rome Fiumicino Airport.

  • 11:05 AM: Depart Rome for Chicago O’Hare (ORD).

  • 2:30 PM: Arrive in Chicago.

(Cam's mom also sent an email letting me know how appreciative she was of the consideration for Cam's dietary restrictions). Angela said it was the best possible way she could think of to wrap up her senior year at CHCH.

Variety was great; amount of activities we squeezed into four days was great. I loved the challenging and fun nature of the big hike at Section 16, the whitewater rafting, and the horseback riding. It was nice to mix in some lower-energy activities that allowed the kids a bit more sense of freedom, like the hot springs, and Manitou Springs.
