DAY 1: TRAVEL DAY 

  • Evening departure from LAX
  • Cross International Date Line

DAY 2:  SYDNEY 

  • Morning arrival in Sydney!
  • Walking tour: discover how this beautiful harbor city was founded as a penal colony and visit Darling Harbor
  • Take a walk around the Sydney Opera House and relax in the neighboring botanical gardens for the afternoon
  • Board a harbor ferry to Manly Beach for surfing or snorkeling in Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve.

DAY 3: BLUE MOUNTAINS 

  • Breakfast
  • Spend the day hiking and exploring the Blue Mountains

DAY 4: FLIGHT TO CAIRNS / TRAVEL DAY

  • Fly to Cairns
  • Spend the afternoon exploring Cairns town
  • Before dinner watch Flying Foxes fill the evening sky

DAY 5: GREAT BARRIER REEF

  • Snorkel or scuba as you explore the Great Barrier Reef!
  • Spend the evening at Cairns gift and souvenir market

DAY 6: RAIN FOREST

  • Kuranda train and rain forest
  • Visit Flying Fox sanctuary to learn more of their importance to the ecosystem

DAY 7: FITZROY ISLAND

  • Spend the Day relaxing on Fitzroy Island
  • Join in a traditional Aboriginal cultural show and dinner

DAY 8: DEPART

  • Breakfast
  • Depart for home

Additional Itinerary option:

*Add a day or trade an activity to visit the Daintree National Forest, the oldest rainforest on the planet. *Add 2-3 days to explore further to New Zealand’s North or South Island. Inquire with your trip planner regarding this option.

Australia Trip

Our educational field trip to Australia really was above and beyond what we imagined! Everything was so well-planned that we could really relax and enjoy all of the activities we were doing and the beauty we were seeing. The highlight for me was experiencing the Great Barrier Reef with my students and swimming with the animals we had been studying in marine biology class. It was a once in a lifetime experience!

All of the activities were fun and well planned! The service day gave students a great opportunity to contribute to the local community. We had a good mix of being active and having downtime to rest in between activities. I think it was perfect for this age group. They were never bored and they slept well at night! I feel like the trip provided more than was expected. It really was above and beyond.
