Day 1: Travel Day and Jamestown

Arrive at Dulles International Airport

Depart for Jamestown Original Site, check out the historical Jamestown Settlement 

Check in at the hotel 

Night activity at Colonial Williamsburg 

Day 2: Colonial Williamsburg

Peruse Colonial Williamsburg to visit trade shops, homes, and the Capitol and Governor’s Palace

Discover historical Yorktown 

Day 3: DC Memorial Day

Bags on bus and departure for Monticello

See the Monticello, which was Thomas Jefferson’s primary plantation

Lunch at Michie Tavern

Depart for Washington DC 

Tour the captivating Lincoln, Vietnam, and Korean Memorials 

Check into hotel 

Day 4: DC Historical Sites

Visit Mt. Vernon, which was once the residence of George Washington 

See the infamous White House

Tour Ford’s Theater, where President Lincoln was assassinated 

Check out the various Smithsonian Museums 

Tour the remarkable WWII, FDR, MLK, and Jefferson Memorials  

Day 5: Exploring Outdoor Sites

Bags on Bus 

Visit Capitol Hill, where the Library of Congress, the Supreme Court, and the House and Senate buildings are all situated

Explore the grounds of Arlington National Cemetery

Depart for Gettysburg 

Day 6: Tour and Travel Day

Check in hotel

Experience where the turning point of the Civil War was on a Gettysburg Battlefield tour

Depart for Philadelphia 

Day 7: Philadelphia Sites and Departure

Experience Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence and the constitution were signed

Walking tour of the historic city of Philadelphia

Variety was great; amount of activities we squeezed into four days was great. I loved the challenging and fun nature of the big hike at Section 16, the whitewater rafting, and the horseback riding. It was nice to mix in some lower-energy activities that allowed the kids a bit more sense of freedom, like the hot springs, and Manitou Springs.
